We found our century-old vineyard high on Mount Etna’s northeast slope while traveling in Sicily, in 2021. Even after years of neglect, we could see the potential and we set out to restore the vineyard to its former glory, introducing our first wines in 2023 with great success.
The pastoral theater of dry-stone terraces is located at the edge of the Etna forest, between 850-900 meters amsl in Contrada Panella-Petto Dragone. Each year, with every improvement, the vineyard continues to reveal itself in new ways.
We had an incredible head start. The Romeo family from Linguaglossa cared for our old, ungrafted Nerello Mascalese vines and the other indigenous Sicilian varieties including Carricante, Nerello Cappuccio, Catarratto, and Inzolia for four generations. Today, the vineyard and wines are cared for by Benjamin Spencer and Andrew Burghoff.
Thanks to our many new friends from Mt. Etna and the incredible town of Linguaglossa for showing us a thing or two.
Grazie a tutti !
